RESPOND in prayer and discussion over communion and dinner
Lead your family in an opening prayer. If you’d like, you may use The Lord’s Prayer as your opening prayer.
Matthew 6:9-13, ESV
9 Pray then like this:
“Our Father in heaven,
hallowed be your name.
10 Your kingdom come,
your will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven.
11 Give us this day our daily bread,
12 and forgive us our debts,
as we also have forgiven our debtors.
13 And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.

ROMANS 5:6-11, ESV
6 For while we were still weak, at the right time Christ died for the ungodly. 7 For one will scarcely die for a righteous person—though perhaps for a good person one would dare even to die— 8 but God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. 9 Since, therefore, we have now been justified by his blood, much more shall we be saved by him from the wrath of God. 10 For if while we were enemies we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, now that we are reconciled, shall we be saved by his life. 11 More than that, we also rejoice in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received reconciliation.
1 JOHN 4:9-10, ESV
9 In this the love of God was made manifest among us, that God sent his only Son into the world, so that we might live through him. 10 In this is love, not that we have loved God but that he loved us and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins.

Go to dinner table. Select someone to read the passage below. For the believers in your household, have them partake of the bread and wine/grape juice. Eat the bread first because Jesus suffered in his body first. Drink the wine/juice because Jesus bled on the cross. End with prayer.
Matthew 26:26-29, ESV
26 Now as they were eating, Jesus took bread, and after blessing it broke it and gave it to the disciples, and said, “Take, eat; this is my body.” 27 And he took a cup, and when he had given thanks he gave it to them, saying, “Drink of it, all of you, 28 for this is my blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins. 29 I tell you I will not drink again of this fruit of the vine until that day when I drink it new with you in my Father's kingdom.”
Eat dinner with your family and follow along with the questions below. You can use any questions you want to use to discuss at dinner. You do not need to use all of these questions.
Why did Jesus come to this earth?
Why did Jesus have to die on a cross?
Why can't we be good enough for God?
How does sin affect our relationship with God?
How good do you have to be to go to heaven?
What is the center or most important thing in your life? Does it love you back? Will it last? How long?
Is it hard to believe that Jesus loves us so much that he would die for us?
If God loves us why can't he accept us as we are?
Why did God allow a perfect, innocent man to endure such punishment and death?
If you are a Christian, how has Jesus changed your life? If you haven’t committed to following Jesus, how could Jesus’ death on the Cross change your life?
If Jesus died for sinners does this mean that I am automatically O.K. with God? Why or why not?
What do I have to do to make this death count for me?
How do you want to respond to Christ's dying for you?
What new thing did you discover about God? What does it mean to personally that Jesus dies on the cross?
What did you learn about Jesus tonight or what were you reminded of?
Why was it necessary for Christ to die?
Do you think Jesus was an unwilling victim of his execution or that he went willingly?
What does the phrase, “He died in my place”, mean to you?
Although Jesus died for sinners, his death does not automatically apply to each person. Why not?
What do I have to do to take advantage of the results of Jesus’s death?
What are some ways someone could respond to his love? What is your response?
